History of the Sapporo Fushimi Inari Shrine

Sapporo Fushimi Inari’s torii gates

Did you know that there is a Fushimi Inari Shrine in both Sapporo (Hokkaido) and Kyoto? In this article, we introduce the one in Sapporo.

If you’re in Hokkaido and you want to visit a shrine, but the famous Hokkaido Shrine is much too crowded, why not go to the quiet but charming Sapporo Fushimi Inari Shrine?

Interestingly, there is also a Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto.

This Sapporo shrine was established in 1884 to enshrine the spirit of Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Shrine, and in 1907 was authorised as Sapporo's Fushimi Inari Shrine.

Snow and the Sapporo Fushimi Inari Shrine

When it snows, you can enjoy the fantastic view of the Inari Shrine's torii gates, fusing into the snowy landscape. A proper Hokkaido version of Kyoto.

If you’re visiting Hokkaido, why not go to the Sapporo Fushimi Inari Shrine?
