Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter - 📍Kurashiki, Okayama
In the center of Kurashiki city, the beautiful townscape of the Edo period more than 300 years ago remains. It's called "Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter".
In the current city center of Kurashiki, in the "Bikan Historical Quarter" along the Kurashiki River and "Honmachi / Higashimachi" is about a 10-minute walk south of JR Kurashiki Station. It's the center of Kurashiki tourism.
Most of this area is designated as a townscape conservation area, but about 200 households still live there.
There are galleries, variety stores, jazz coffee shops, and cafes that have been renovated from the head family of school of the tea ceremony buildings, and new tastes and modernism are in harmony with the old history and culture.
The Kurashiki River was crowded with the traffic of river boats loaded with supplies in the edo period. Nowadays, you can enjoy the atmosphere at that time with the sightseeing river boat.
