Kyoto Tower was built in 1964. It’s in a great location as it is just a 2-minute walk from Kyoto Station and is popular with tourists as a start point for sightseeing in Kyoto.

At 131m tall, it’s the tallest building in Kyoto city. From the view point, you can get a 360-degree view of the cityscape of Kyoto. You can also see other landmarks such as Kiyomizu-dera temple and Mount Hiei. At night, the view is extra special with the whole city lit up.

Activities within Kyoto Tower 

The basement and the first two floors of the building are commercial facilities where you can enjoy Kyoto restaurants and shopping. There is also the opportunity to  experience additional Japanese culture unique to Kyoto in the tower, such as buying souvenirs, making Japanese sweets, making sushi, and even renting a kimono.
